The comic, Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket’s Powerful Plan combines Marvel’s iconic superheroes with Visa’s financial literacy expertise to introduce readers to fundamental money management concepts in an entertaining and engaging way. This new comic book will be distributed to over 1,000 students participating in the upcoming financial literacy school tours hosted by St. James’ Settlement, as well as to winners of the Liberal Studies-Financial Literacy Online Quiz in July, 2016. This new, limited edition Marvel comic book is now open to all schools dedicated to financial education.
“At Visa we believe that financial education is most effective when schools and private sectors work together,” said Caroline Ada, General Manager of Visa Hong Kong and Macau. “Young people should start early on making sound financial decisions. Over the years we have partnered with various organisations, which include government bodies, non-profit organizations as well as schools to explore new ways in promoting basic concepts of financial management. This year we are proud to bring our financial literacy expertise and Marvel’s storytelling into Hong Kong community.”
Other than Hong Kong, the new comic, Guardians of the Galaxy: Rocket’s Powerful Plan, will be available in 16 languages. It is a collector’s item financial literacy comic with fast-paced plot where the characters learn the importance of saving and managing personal finances while defeating the evil Collector and Robo-Pests. This is the second time Marvel Comics and Visa have teamed up to create a comic focused on financial education. The first comic, Avengers: Saving the Day, launched in 2012 and is available in nine languages. More than 497,000 copies have been distributed worldwide.
